Dr Andrew Frey

I joined Matthias’ lab in November 2021 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, where I focus on mass spectrometry approaches in ubiquitin signalling and innate immunity.

I obtained my PhD from the University of Sheffield in 2017, where I studied the role of bacterial glycosidases in periodontal pathogen virulence, and the potential use of sialidase inhibitors as anti-virulence drugs. After this, I was granted a Fulbright Scholarship allowing me to undertake a postdoc program at the University of South Florida, where I investigated the role of Staphylococcus aureus proteases during pathogenesis, using and developing N-terminomics approaches.
