Dr Ritika Chatterjee, Research Assistant, Newcastle University, Biosciences Institute
I have completed my Bachelors in Science (B.Sc.) in Microbiology (H), Botany and Chemistry and my Masters in Science (M. Sc.) in Biochemistry from University of Calcutta (India) in 2016. Following this I obtained my Ph.D. degree (2017-2022) from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (India) and I was working with Prof Dipshikha Chakravortty’s group. I studied host-pathogen interactions in immune cells with a primary focus on Salmonella’s interplay with host-endo-lysosomal machinery.
I am currently a Research Assistant at Newcastle University in Prof Matthias Trost’s Lab of Biomedical Mass Spectrometry, where I am working in the innate immunity and phagosome area of research. I have expertise in vitro and in vivo infection experiments and in studying the role of host targets in pathogenesis and virulence in context of bacterial infection.
