Simran Raheja

I joined the Trost lab in September 2023 as a PhD student part of the Molecular Sciences for Medicine (EPSRC CDT) programme, working in collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim. My project is focussed on proteomics-based assessment of drug performance in vivo by establishing target engagement methods and characterising new disease models.

Prior to beginning my PhD, I completed my MSc (integrated) degree in Applied Medical Science at University College London. I undertook my third-year research project at UCL’s Centre for Amyloidosis, where I used mass spectrometry to determine the cause of variant misidentification in transthyretin amyloidosis.

I then completed my master’s dissertation, which focussed on the role of mTOR downstream targets in collagen deposition in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis at UCL’s Centre for Inflammation and Tissue Repair.
