Welcome to the
Trost Lab

We are a research group at Newcastle University focussing on proteomics, innate immunity and drug discovery.

Proteomics

We develop and apply methods for mass spectrometry-based proteomics.

Innate Immunity and phagosome Biology

We study the role of ubiquitylation in phagosome biology and innate immunity.

Drug Discovery

We develop and apply mass spectrometry-based methods for drug discovery and chemical proteomics.

BBSRC Fellowship for Ben Raymond

Huge congratulations to Trost-lab postdoc Dr Ben Raymond who was awarded a 3-year BBSRC Fellowship to study efferocytosis on the molecular level using proteomics.   Ben will do this work associated with the Trost-Lab at the University of Manchester.

Trost lab to move to the University of Manchester

The Trost lab will move to the University of Manchester in January 2026 and join the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. We will have a PhD position available with intake September 2026. We will keep some association with Newcastle University to finish off collaborations and remaining grants.

Recommendations for DIA mass spectrometry proteomics – pre-print out!

Great new output by the lab on DIA mass spectrometry proteomics recommendations! Fantastic work by Andy and Frances! https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.09.22.677725v2
